A re-screen? We are going to go over some common issues you may face and help you decide if its time to have a technician come out to provide an in-home screen replacement service.

1. Tears or Holes

The most obvious issue with a screen would be that it has a tear or a hole in it. You can simply look at your screen and see the fiber or aluminum material separating from the frame. While some people will attempt to do patch jobs, our team will remove your entire bad mesh material and install a brand new one.

2. Bad or Brittle Corners

Another common issue with window screens is broken or damaged corners, some corners can be replaced while others may be obsolete. When we come out on-site, we will identify and diagnose any corner issues, sometimes your spline is holding in a broken or snapped corner. When the spline is removed the corner will prove to be faulty, look and see if this is the issue.

3. Bent Frames

Frames can become bent for several reasons, typically the main reason is by the screen being pushed upon. Sometimes screens (if they lose certain hardware) can also fall out of the frame onto the floor causing damage as well.

4. Animals

Sometimes you have certain animals that like to make a nest out of your mesh material. Squirrels and birds are common animals that will chew your mesh and use it to build a nest.

5. Sunlight

Sunlight over years of beating down on a screen can cause damage, not only to the mesh material but it can also damage your corners and other hardware. If your mesh material was originally black and is starting to have a shredded metallic tone to it, it is probably time to get a rescreen.

6. Water Damage

Many damaged frames can have area(s) where water will sit in causing screens to rust from both the corners and the frame itself. If you have aluminum mesh it can also rust, causing the screen to become worthless over time. For issues like these our team will build you a brand-new duplicate screen.

7. Can’t Open or Close

If you have a screen that moves up and down in a channel it might possibly be something called a triple track screen. Our team can figure out which hardware you require for the screen and provide installation service for them.

8. Decreased Visibility

Maybe your screen mesh doesn’t have damage to it but it is caked in debris or dirt, our team can provide a brand new screen in place of your worn screen. We can also put in new mesh material if your current mesh is faded or in bad shape.

9. Distorted Frames

Sometimes it’s your frame itself that becomes slightly distorted, this can happen from either the corners going bad or just from the house settling on top of a screen that wasn’t removed often. We can build a new frame for you if this is the case.

10. Fire Damage

Did your home suffer fire damage? Sometimes this can cause your screen mesh to melt or the frame of your screen to become burnt. We can remove the damaged screen and measure for a brand new one.

Hopefully these tips can help you decide if you need a new screen, a rescreen, or just new mesh in your current frame. Contact us if you have any questions and we will assist you as soon as we can.
